Alex Wood leaves Rimington

Rimington confirm that Alex Wood has transferred to North West Counties League club Barnoldswick Town

Alex Wood yesterday informed Rimington that he would signing for Barnoldswick Town.

After coming through Preston North Ends Academy, the attacking midfielder joined Rimington at the start of last season. During a stellar campaign Alex made 18 appearances, scoring four goals with 8 assists and 4 MOM. Alex also received the clubs Player's Player and Young Player of the season awards.

First team manager David Cook said.“We’re obviously disappointed to lose Alex he's a cracking lad who had taken great strides last season and established himself as a first team regular.

"He has all the talent in the world and he can have a big future. We’re proud to have played a small part in his development and we wish him all the best in his career."

Chairman Terry Braithwaite said "
He is a great example to young players of the pathway that Rimington can offer them into semi-professional football. I have no doubt he will do very well in the future. We know that good players will attract attention"

Everyone at Rimington thanks Alex for his contribution to the club and wish him every success going forward.

Alex joins Luke Taylor - Padiham FC Charlie Lloyd, Gareth Hill - Nelson FC and Charlie Collinge - Silsden FC who've moved into the semi-professional ranks in recent times. It's great see the clubs youth player development philosophy thriving.
