Rimington Under 18’s
We are extremely excited to announce Rimington Football Club will have a new under 18s youth team in place for the new season working through a close affiliation with Wilpshire Wanderers Football club.
The team will play on Sundays in the East Lancashire Alliance as Rimington FC Under 18s utilising the Coulthurst Jubilee Field as their home venue.
Wilpshire Wanderers have approximately 280 players between the age of 4 and 16 with 22 squads across the age groups. The linkup between the two clubs offers a pathway for the young footballers at the age of 16/17 to progress into a higher age group using the facilities and existing infrastructure at Rimington FC. This link between the two clubs sets the scene for a continuing feed of players in coming years for the football club.
At the start of the 2020/21 season the new Rimington U18s side will start out with a combination of Wilpshire Wanderers U17s and a strong u16s which includes six players who have represented the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley District team. The team will be managed by Boyd Hargreaves who is an experienced football coach and manager and has spent the last 12 years at Wilpshire Wanderers managing his sons’ side since the boys started their football journey at the age of 4. UEFA A licensed coach John Hughes will be assisting the team with training.
Rimington Chairman Terry Braithwaite
“ Wilpshire Wanderers is a fantastic established local club that is well run and respected. We are pleased to be able to facilitate this link up which are exciting times for the club. We have been looking to set up a youth team going forward, to provide a way into adult football and thereby keeping our 1st and 2nd teams strong in the process, so this seems to be a perfect fit’’
Wilpshire Wanderers Chairman Steve Frost
